Leon Finley is BACK, this time at our mini gallery space, to show their new framed prints of the Crocosmic Tarot deck artwork.

"The Crocosmic Tarot is a beautifully drawn, genderless deck which uses imaginative, abstract imagery to connect with intuition and the body. The Crocosmic Tarot was created by Leon Finley, a queer trans interdisciplinary artist and Tarot and Akashic Records reader who lives right here in the Phinney Ridge/West Woodland neighborhood."

"As someone who spends a lot of time in their head, painting is about being fully present in my body and openly attuning to my instincts. My body of work is fairly eclectic, as a result -- it is constantly changing and evolving as I experiment, push forward with existing patterns, try new things, or loop back to gestures and media that continue to interest me over time. My experience as an architect, educator, graphic designer, maker, and consultant all inform my work. As an artist, I am often compelled by the creative tension between the numerous ways in which I've been trained to think and see."

"This collection started as a result of a gradual and gravitational shift. With my previous work mainly being digital, I found quick lines, bold colors, and messy mistakes to be the change I needed to keep growing as an illustrator. Throughout my work, I explore the food on our tables, the nature surrounding us, and the objects of everyday life. With a minimal color palette using oil pastels on paper, this collection stands out as the start of something new in my artistic journey."

"Nightpoems is a series of summer evening scenes. I work a lot with the figure, often using myself and my partner"as subjects to draw from. I capture brief, mundane moments from our daily lives and transform them with bold colors and illustrative stylization to reveal a charged sensory landscape. These scenes explore a range of hidden complexities, from the humor of corporeal existence, to questions or belongings and the meaning of intimacy."
