Dear Readers,
Holidays are here. Many of us are getting into the spirit of winter celebrations with festive activities and traditions: the music, the cookie-baking, the twinkly holiday lights and decorations. Heck, I even made a gingerbread house last weekend. It's all very seductive. It can also be a nice distraction from whatever you want to escape from, even for just a little while.
Lately though, it's been impossible to ignore the fact that there is a lot of hurt in the world. I don't have great wealth, power, or influence; and, there are many days I feel overwhelmed. If you've been feeling this way too, I understand.
This holiday season, I have been thinking of ways I can feel more empowered to change the hurt around us and I came up with a list of activities I'm sharing below. I hope this helps you, or gives you a place to springboard off of. If there's something you do to spread more love and kindness (around the holidays or any time of year) - and would like to share, please email us. I'd love to hear from you!
Donate or Volunteer
As long as humans inhabit this earth, there will never not be a need to donate or volunteer. If you can spare a little or a lot, please consider giving in some way. If you're not sure where to give, I'm listing several non-profits that Aide-mémoire (as a company and as individuals) contribute to:

Random Acts of Kindness
I know this is such a cliché phrase, but we really need this right now! If you've ever been on the receiving end of a random act of kindness, you know how much hope and optimism it can emanate. If enough people perform a random act of kindness on the same day could we actually bring about peace on earth? I don't know, but let's try!
Reach Out and Care
Do you know of someone who might be lonely around the holidays? Or do you have an old friend or family member you've been meaning to re-connect with? Get in touch and treat them to a coffee and a little conversation. Connection is one of the most important things we can do to remind us of our humanity.
The Simple Act of Breathing
Done with intention, even the simple act of breathing can feel incredibly empowering. This post from verywellmind.com outlines different styles of breathing exercises to help you center yourself.
** Wishing you steadiness and tranquility this winter season. **
